About KINAKO
What is KINAKO?
KINAKO is roasted soybean powder — “soy powder” in Japanese. It’s made from whole soybeans, roasted with the skin on and ground into a fine, naturally sweet, nutty flour. It has been enjoyed in Japan for centuries, traditionally with mochi and sweets, and today in lattes, smoothies, porridge and baking.
Where does it come from?
Our KINAKO is made in Japan. We select the best soybeans of each season — recent batches use beans from Akita and Hokkaido, and occasionally organic soybeans from Canada — and every batch is roasted and milled at our partner factory in Japan.
Is it good for you?
KINAKO is 100% plant-based, gluten-free and rich in protein, fibre, iron and calcium — with no additives or preservatives. (Around 26g protein and 15g fibre per 100g in our Plain kinako.)
